The Loyalton Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Surprise Valley Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Loyalton lost to Quincy on the road by a decisive 55-40 margin. While losing is never fun, Loyalton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 810th, while Quincy is ranked 351st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Catherine Petterson, who scored ten points along with two steals. Petterson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mollie Griffin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Surprise Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 46-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tulelake. Surprise Valley has struggled against Tulelake recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Like Surprise Valley, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Elizabeth Lopez-Rangel led the charge by scoring 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gennasys Fernandez, who scored 12 points.
Loyalton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Surprise Valley, they dropped their record down to 9-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
