Pelion waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Mid-Carolina Rebels with a sharp 18-8 win. Considering the Panthers have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Rhaygen Platts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Emma Jackson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Bridges, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Pelion pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mid-Carolina, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.
As of now, neither Pelion nor Mid-Carolina have any future games scheduled.
