The Cadott Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Stanley-Boyd Orioles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cadott has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with eight straight losses, while Stanley-Boyd will come in with five straight victories.
Cadott lost 14-4 to Bloomer on Tuesday.
Cadott saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasey Moldrem, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Karlee Davis was another, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stanley-Boyd hadn't done well against McDonell Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Orioles blew past the Macks 13-3. Considering the Orioles have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Caitlen Ketterhagen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Kendall Sikora was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelly Lew, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Stanley-Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Stanley-Boyd pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Cadott, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cadott hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Stanley-Boyd struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cadott was able to grind out a solid win over Stanley-Boyd when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 10-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
