The Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Valley Christian Trojans on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 70-68. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noelle Sunukjian, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sunukjian scored a full 27.9% of Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sedona Dietrich, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Valley Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy will take on Ironwood Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Ironwood Ridge is ranked 49th, while Pusch Ridge Christian Academy is ranked 73rd). As for Valley Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Benjamin Franklin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Benjamin Franklin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
