Softball Recap: Lamar Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Lamar waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Jasper Eagles as they made off with a 16-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lexy Stephen made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Stephen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kelby Wolf, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Zavrie Wiss, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Lamar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jasper only posted an OBP of .200.

Lamar's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Jasper, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lamar Tigers take on Baxter Springs Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jasper, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lockwood at 4:30 p.m.
