Batesburg-Leesville will be defending their home turf for the first time on Thursday when they go up against Newberry at Batesburg-leesville High School at 6:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the game is expected to be close.
Batesburg-Leesville had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They took a 6-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gilbert. The contest was a 6-6 toss-up at halftime, but Batesburg-Leesville was outplayed in the second half.
Meanwhile, Newberry couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell to Abbeville 20-29.
