Zachary Schultz made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Holy Redeemer got a big performance out of Cody Quaglia, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Drew Cisney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Scranton hadn't done well against Delaware Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Knights skirted past the Warriors 8-6. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Holy Redeemer, Scranton also got a great game from a two-way player: Thor Kelly. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Kelly was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Thomas Bartlebaugh was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Henry Bartlebaugh also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Holy Redeemer's record now sits at 6-0. As for Scranton, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.
Holy Redeemer's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Royals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Scranton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Holy Redeemer continue to outrun the ball?
