The Leonia Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Fort Lee 61-34. Leonia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fort Lee apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.
Fort Lee was led to victory by Guy Vickers and Devin Jang. Vickers dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Jang scored 16 points along with two steals. Vickers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Gereb, who scored ten points.
Leonia's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Fort Lee, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leonia will take on St. Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Marypresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Leonia in New Jersey (St. Mary is ranked 75th, while Leonia is ranked 385th). As for Fort Lee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ramsey at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fort Lee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
