The ThunderRidge Grizzlies struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Arapahoe Warriors had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. ThunderRidge took a 49-34 bruising from Arapahoe. It was the first time this season that ThunderRidge let down their fans at home.
ThunderRidge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ben Kayser-cochran, who scored six points along with seven rebounds. Becca Winton was another key contributor, scoring six points.
ThunderRidge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Arapahoe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Liz Gentry out in front who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Gentry is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Smith, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
ThunderRidge's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5. As for Arapahoe, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
ThunderRidge will be playing at home against Legend at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Legend presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than ThunderRidge in Colorado (Legend is ranked second, while ThunderRidge is ranked 33rd). Arapahoe's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rampart at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Rampart focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
