Softball Recap: Bridges Prep Has No Trouble Against Lake Marion

Bridges Prep won the last time they faced Lake Marion and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Buccaneers were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Gators. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 13 runs or more this season.

Baylee Stevenson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bridges Prep got a massive performance out of Mallorie Brown, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Prater, who scored three runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-2.

Bridges Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Bridges Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Lake Marion, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Bridges Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-2 defeat against Lowcountry Leadership on the 2nd. As for Lake Marion, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Branchville at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
