After only one run in their last matchup, Marathon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Somerset Academy South Homestead on Thursday. Everything went the Marathon Dolphins' way against the Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes as the Marathon Dolphins made off with a 21-1 victory. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Shane Dieguez looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Marathon is 5-1 when Dieguez allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Jason Stubblefield Jr. was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Leal, who went 1-for-4 with five RBI and two runs.

Marathon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Marathon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Somerset Academy South Homestead's defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Marathon and Somerset Academy South Homestead will both be playing Miami Country Day the next time they take the field. Marathon will host Miami Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Somerset Academy South Homestead will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
