Baseball Recap: Dutch Fork Beats Dreher for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Dutch Fork waltzed into their match on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Everything went their way against the Dreher Blue Devils as they made off with a 14-2 win. Considering the Silver Foxes have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

L Cesario was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Raleigh Salters also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Dutch Fork always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dutch Fork pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dreher, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dutch Fork will take on Irmo at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Silver Foxes are facing the Yellow Jackets at the right time seeing as the Yellow Jackets are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Dreher, they will head out to face off against Gray Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
