Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Gladewater's Fifth in Last Six Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Rusk, Gladewater was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They never let the LaPoynor Flyers get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Luke Brown, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Alex Villalpando also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Gladewater is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. LaPoynor has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Gladewater will square off against Chapel Hill at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Gladewater is facing Chapel Hill at the right time seeing as Chapel Hill is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for LaPoynor, they will challenge Arp at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
