Trenton Catholic Academy pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Gill St. Bernard 84-55. While losing is never fun, Trenton Catholic Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Knights are ranked fifth).
Several Trenton Catholic Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mayah Alford, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Sondjane Dourdin was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Trenton Catholic Academy and nudges their season record down to 12-6. As for Gill St. Bernard's, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trenton Catholic Academy will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Holy Cross is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Gill St. Bernard's, they will head out on the road to take on the Red Devil at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
