Baseball Game Preview: Person Rockets vs. Western Alamance Warriors

For the first time this season, Person will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Western Alamance Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Person is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

While Person's victory against Northern Durham wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Person came out on top in a nail-biter against Northern Durham on Friday, sneaking past 5-3. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Brennen Kiser and Keeghan Holmes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kiser pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Holmes tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Kiser got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI, while Holmes scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Holmes has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Gavin Dodson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. Person is undefeated when Dodson posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Ethan Norris also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Western Alamance's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Thursday. They lost 8-2 to Trinity. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.

Person's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Western Alamance, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Person skirted past Western Alamance 6-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Person have another victory up their sleeve, or will Western Alamance turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
