The Oakland Patriots will challenge the Wilson Central Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oakland comes in on four and Wilson Central on five.
On Tuesday, Oakland was able to grind out a solid victory over Riverdale, taking the game 6-3.
The team relied heavily on Jazmyne Watkins, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Ellison, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oakland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverdale only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Wilson Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-15 win over Lebanon on Monday.
Wilson Central got a big performance out of Adelynn Perry, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Perry is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Reese Serbin was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Oakland pushed their record up to 20-4-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Wilson Central, their victory bumped their record up to 21-10.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oakland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Wilson Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oakland beat Wilson Central 7-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
