The Coahoma Bulldogs will challenge the Brownfield Cubs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Coahoma has three straight wins, Brownfield has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Coahoma had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Lamesa on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Tornadoes 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-15, 25-20.

Coahoma's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gabby Cox, who had five digs and five aces, and Bree Lewis, who had 13 kills and three digs. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 23 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madi Renteria, who had seven kills and one block.
They weren't the only good servers: Coahoma was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Brownfield lost 3-0 to Crane on Tuesday.
While Brownfield ultimately came up short, they really made Crane work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-15, 25-23.
Coahoma's victory bumped their record up to 22-10-1. As for Brownfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-19.
Coahoma took their win against Brownfield in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Cubs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
