The Kent County Trojans are on the road again on Friday and plays the Pocomoke Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Kent County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
Kent County scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They walked away with a 51-39 win over North East.
Zoe Angenieux was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Kent County's points. Another player making a difference was Talicia Wright, who scored 18 points.
Even though Pocomoke has not done well against Bennett recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Pocomoke took down Bennett 42-24. The win was just what Pocomoke needed coming off of a 72-35 loss in their prior match.
It was another big night for Donyae Washington, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for 16 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Esham, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Kent County's record is now 5-13. Pocomoke's record is now 10-8.
Kent County suffered a grim 60-39 defeat to Pocomoke in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Washington, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 23 rebounds. Now that Kent County knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
