Even though the Foard Tigers scored an imposing 66 points on Tuesday, the St. Stephens Indians still came out on top. St. Stephens walked away with a 76-66 victory over Foard. The win made it back-to-back wins for St. Stephens.
St. Stephens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayden Hillman, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. Hillman is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah VanBeurden, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Foard's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Ollis, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Ollis scored 15 or more points. Graham Orndoff was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Foard were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. This was only their tenth loss (out of 14 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
St. Stephens now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Foard, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
St. Stephens will head out on the road to challenge West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Foard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Iredell at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
