It was a good run, but Vernon unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 66-41 to the Lubbock Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Eagles are ranked 142nd).

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marhianna Johnson, who posted six points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Erianna Chavez, who earned four points.

Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Lubbock Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-23 loss against Wellington on the 13th. As for Lubbock Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-29 win against Childress on the 13th.
