The Cottonwood Colts will venture away from home to face off against the Bear River Bears at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cottonwood's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Hillcrest. Winning may never get old, but the Colts sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Quinn Mendenhall looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cottonwood let Diego Martinez and Isaiah Cosby run wild. Martinez went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Cosby got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominick Fuchuck, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Cottonwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Bear River waltzed into their game on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Wolves 13-3.
Holden Potter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kolten Summers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Bear River's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Cottonwood, their record now sits at 14-7.
Both Cottonwood and Bear River just can't seem to miss. The Colts have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cottonwood came up short against Bear River when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
