Even though the Humboldt Vikings scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, Rockvale still came out on top. Rockvale took their contest against Humboldt 69-59.
Rockvale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Newton led the charge by scoring 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Darryl Cotton, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds.
The victory got Rockvale back to even at 4-4. As for Humboldt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Rockvale will be playing at home against Tullahoma at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Tullahoma's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Humboldt, they will head out on the road to face off against Crockett County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crockett County is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
