The Oakwood Panthers will be playing at home against the Bynum Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Oakwood is ranked 1548th, while Bynum is ranked 1540th).
Last Friday, Oakwood came up short against Milford and fell 62-53. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oakwood in their matchups with Milford: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Oakwood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nick Strickland, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jackson Ballard, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Bynum beat Trinidad 58-46 on Friday.
Oakwood has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Bynum, they pushed their record up to 8-9 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Oakwood and Bynum were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but Oakwood came up empty-handed after a 37-36 defeat. Can Oakwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
