On Friday Independence take on Holly Springs at Pink Out & Cancer Awareness Game - The Border War at 7:00 PM. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
After soaring to 61 points the game before, Independence faltered in their match last Friday. They took a serious blow against North Panola last Friday, falling 7-46. Independence's defeat came about despite a quality game from sophomore Kylan Garrett, who rushed for 178 yards and 1 touchdown. Garrett has now scored at least one touchdown in the past 3 games.
Meanwhile, Holly Springs came into their this week averaging 40 points per game, but Holly Springs fell well short of that average, and it cost them. They were completely outmatched, falling 0-43 to Water Valley. The low total for Holly Springs limited their streak of high-flying scores to 5 in a row.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
