The Eastern Randolph Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Uwharrie Charter Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Randolph knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Uwharrie Charter likes a good challenge.
Even though Southwestern Randolph scored an imposing 70 points on Tuesday, Eastern Randolph still came out on top. Eastern Randolph took their match against Southwestern Randolph 80-70.
Eastern Randolph's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nicah Taylor, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Taylor is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Julian Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Uwharrie Charter, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-50 loss to Randleman on Wednesday. Uwharrie Charter has not had much luck with Randleman recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Eastern Randolph is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Uwharrie Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Eastern Randolph beat Uwharrie Charter 88-75 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern Randolph since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
