For the first time this season, Rockport-Fulton will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Cuero Gobblers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rockport-Fulton took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Hallettsville as they made off with a 34-13 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 20 points or more this season.

Rockport-Fulton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Keown, who rushed for 47 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 23 yards and one touchdown. The Pirates are undefeated when Keown posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Reid Snyder was another key passer, throwing for 134 yards and one touchdown on only 12 passes.
Meanwhile, Cuero strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 35-27 win over Harlingen. Given the Gobblers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Cardinals are ranked 695th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cuero had a senior duo take command as Jaxxon Marie threw for 225 yards and a pair of TDs and Walker Dietze picked up 161 receiving yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cuero was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Cuero's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Rockport-Fulton, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Rockport-Fulton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 276.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cuero struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 235.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Rockport-Fulton might still be hurting after the 34-14 loss they got from Cuero in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
