Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Richard Winn Academy's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Richard Winn Academy won the last time they faced Midlands STEM Charter, and Charlie Bonds did his part to make sure it happened again. The Richard Winn Academy Eagles strolled past the Midlands STEM Charter Mavericks with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 71-54 thanks in part to Bonds, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Eli Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Richard Winn Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Midlands STEM Charter, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Richard Winn Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-48 victory against Thornwell on the 28th. As for Midlands STEM Charter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lee Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
