The Paxton Bobcats had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They walked away with a 47-35 win over Destin. That's two games straight that Paxton has won by exactly 12 points.
Paxton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Morgan led the charge by scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Morgan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Adams, who scored 11 points.
When it comes to explaining why Destin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryson Nixon. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Flynt, who scored six points along with two steals.
Paxton is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Destin, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paxton will square off against Geneva County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneva County will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Destin's road trip will continue as they head out to face Jay at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Jay is ranked 379th, while Destin is ranked 373rd).
