The North Springs Spartans have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 win over Cambridge. The victory was all the more spectacular given North Springs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Cambridge is ranked 61st).
Esmer Madesko was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with four steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of North Springs' points. Robert Harris was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
North Springs' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-16. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Cambridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Springs will square off against Chattahoochee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cambridge, they will head out on the road to square off against Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
