Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Abdou Toure of
Notre Dame (West Haven) is the 2024-25 Connecticut MaxPreps Player of the Year. A repeat selection, the 6-foot-6 junior wing led the Green Knights to a 25-2 record and their second consecutive Division I state championship.
For the season, Toure averaged 25.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per contest. He shot 61.3 percent from the field, 34.3 percent from 3-point range and 74.2 percent from the free throw line.

In a 68-56 victory over St. Bernard (Uncasville) in the state championship game, Toure piled up 27 points and 20 rebounds.
Toure ended his junior season as the program's all-time leading scorer with over 1,400 points and has helped Notre Dame compile a 51-2 record over the past two years.
Regarded as a top 25 prospect in the Class of 2026 according to
247Sports, Toure holds 17 offers including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Louisville, Oregon, Penn State, Providence, Syracuse and Texas A&M among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 8. Past selections include 2023-24 All-NBA picks Devin Booker (2014), Jalen Brunson (2014, 2015), Anthony Davis (2011), Kevin Durant (2006), Anthony Edwards (2019) and Jayson Tatum (2014, 2015, 2016).
