Baseball Recap: Jasper Takes a Loss

Jasper dropped their record down to 14-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-3 to the Ash Grove Pirates. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this contest were averaging 3.24 runs allowed.

Trace Lehman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

As for Ash Grove, they now have a winning record of 11-10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.

On Ash Grove's side, Kyler Reece made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reece also tossed no walks, which is notable because Ash Grove is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-9-1 otherwise. Reece was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ty Messley was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Ash Grove is undefeated when Messley posts two or more runs, but 6-10-1 otherwise.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jasper will venture away from home to challenge Miller at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ash Grove, they will face off against Halfway at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
