If the Four Corners Coyotes were riding high off their 61-22 takedown of the Mater Brighton Lakes Academy Broncos last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Four Corners took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tohopekaliga on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Four Corners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while Tohopekaliga is ranked 205th).
Four Corners' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karina Cruz, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Danielys Pena Ponce, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Four Corners now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Tohopekaliga, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Four Corners the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Ridgeview Global Studies Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. As for Tohopekaliga, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Foundation Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Foundation Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday.
