After four games on the road, Souderton is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Bensalem Fighting Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Souderton made off with a 43-42 victory over Central Bucks West. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Souderton has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Bensalem narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Neshaminy 46-44. Given Bensalem's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Neshaminy is ranked 268th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Souderton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Bensalem, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Souderton beat Bensalem 65-54 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bensalem's Eric Gonzalez, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Souderton to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
