Softball Recap: York Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

York entered their tilt with South Pointe on Thursday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Stallions 18-5. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

Peyton Brooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marisa Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Briley Comer was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Pointe only posted a batting average of .357.

York's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for South Pointe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. York will take on Clover at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Pointe, they will square off against Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Stallions are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
