The Northeast Hurricanes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Chaminade-Madonna with a sharp 77-51 win. Given Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Chaminade-Madonna is ranked 337th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chanler Joseph continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. Joseph also posted eight+ assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Prien, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Chaminade-Madonna's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Mothersill, who scored 16 points along with four steals. The contest was Mothersill's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Michael Watson jr. was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three blocks.
Chaminade-Madonna struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Northeast's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Chaminade-Madonna, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Northeast and Pompano Beach will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pompano Beach is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Chaminade-Madonna will take on Hollywood Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
