The Brewer Bears waltzed into their matchup on Friday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They walked away with a 44-35 victory over Granbury. Given Brewer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Granbury is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brewer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Perez out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Rayanne Lomboto was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Brewer's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for Granbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-10.
Brewer will head out on the road to face off against Rider at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brewer is facing Rider at the right time seeing as Rider is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Granbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Azle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granbury is facing Azle at the right time seeing as Azle is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
