After a string of nine wins, the Dale Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Owasso by a score of 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Jalen Montonati, who scored 40 points for Owasso. The matchup was Montonati's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Boden Williams, who scored four points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Dale's loss dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Owasso, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Dale will head out on the road to face off against Jones at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Jones will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Dale is ranked third). Owasso won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Edmond North at 8:30 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Edmond North's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
