Softball Recap: North Union Wins Going Away Against Urbana

North Union came out on top against Urbana on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Wildcats blew past the Hillclimbers 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kale Keigley was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests. Kailin McElroy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Urbana only managed five hits.

North Union's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 7-8. As for Urbana, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, North Union will welcome Northmor at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Urbana, they will head out on the road to challenge London at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hillclimbers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Raiders have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
