The Oceanside Pirates will challenge the San Marcos Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oceanside proved they can win big on September 12th (they won by 27) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Mount Miguel 26-25.

Oceanside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Neke Letuli out in front who rushed for 154 yards and one touchdown. Those 154 rushing yards gave Letuli a new career-high. Another player making a difference was SJ Poumele, who rushed for 73 yards and one TD on only nine carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Oceanside was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, San Marcos entered their tilt with San Pasqual last Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Golden Eagles 35-7. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Oceanside better keep an eye on Zamar Reese. He was instrumental in San Marcos' win, rushing for 116 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 67 yards. Kreet Makihele was another key player, throwing for 173 yards and a pair of TDs.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for San Marcos, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Reese, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to San Marcos' defense and their five sacks. Ty Sagaser was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up 2.5 himself.
Oceanside's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for San Marcos, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
