The Marissa/Coulterville Meteors will face off against the Steeleville Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marissa/Coulterville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Marissa/Coulterville's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Valmeyer. Considering the Meteors have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Carter Daugherty's shutout, as he gave up just five hits.
At the plate, Marissa/Coulterville let Ryne Rhodes and Jack Stewart run wild. Rhodes went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Stewart went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Steeleville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Lebanon 8-0 on Thursday.
Tyler Ingles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Canon Ruby, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Colin Vallett, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Steeleville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Marissa/Coulterville skirted past Steeleville 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Meteors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
