Central's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the St. Francis Spartans 61-59. The Rockets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Audrey Lafleur, who posted 19 points and five assists. Lafleur has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Julia Scheuer was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alyssa Freeman, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Freeman is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Quaranta, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Central moved to 4-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for St. Francis, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Laurence at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Central is facing St. Laurence at the right time seeing as St. Laurence is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Francis, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Thornton at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
