The Bowie Bulldogs will head out to take on the Dripping Springs Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Bowie's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Del Valle hitters got past them. The Bulldogs took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cadie Hays and Josie Busceme stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hays went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Busceme scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Nungaray, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Dripping Springs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Maroons 11-1. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly ten runs.
Sadie Bradford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Bradford was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.
In other batting news, Lorelei Gamble was incredible, firing off three home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tatum Green, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Dripping Springs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three strikeouts batters in three consecutive matches.
Bowie's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Dripping Springs, their record is now 18-6-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bowie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Dripping Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bowie was able to grind out a solid victory over Dripping Springs in their previous matchup back in March, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
