Softball Recap: Ringgold Drops Highest Score of Season Against Plain Dealing

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ringgold). They put the hurt on the Plain Dealing Lions with a sharp 20-2 win on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Redskins as they're now sitting on six straight.

Jayla Joyner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison Kilpatrick was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Faith Clifton, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Ringgold was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Ringgold now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Plain Dealing, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ringgold will face off against Red River at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.28 runs per game on average), something the Redskins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Plain Dealing, they will challenge Bossier at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions are facing the Bearkats at the right time seeing as the Bearkats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
