The son of NBA eccentric, rebound hound and Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, Dennis Jr. ("D.J.") just capped a breakout campaign at Corona del Mar.
A 6-foot-4 wing, Rodman Jr. averaged 19.6 points per game and helped the Sea Kings go 22-8. He went for a career-high 40 in a playoff win over Dominguez (Compton) last week.
Speaking to OCVarsity.com about his star sophomore Tuesday, Corona del Mar head coach Ryan Schachter had high praise.
"He played great. He's one of the more underrated or unknown players in Southern California," Schachter said.
Dennis Sr. played his last game in the NBA in 2000, capping a career that included a long run with Detroit in addition to stints with San Antonio, Chicago, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas. He was a member of 11 playoff teams, five world championship teams and is regarded as one of the best defenders and rebounders in league history.
