The Zionsville Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Ben Davis Giants at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Zionsville is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Zionsville came up short against Westfield and fell 46-36. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 37th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Mckenzie Chapman, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Caroline Sampson, who earned eight points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Zionsville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Meanwhile, Ben Davis came up short against Franklin Central on Saturday, falling 61-39.
Like Zionsville, Ben Davis lost despite seeing results from several players. Hayden Oconnor led the charge by putting up six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ka?Dence Bland, who put up seven points.
Zionsville's record is now 3-6. As for Ben Davis, their record now sits at 4-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Zionsville has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Ben Davis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything went Zionsville's way against Ben Davis when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as Zionsville made off with a 52-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zionsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
