The Steinbrenner Warriors lost against the Wharton Wildcats back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Steinbrenner was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Steinbrenner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Wildcats are ranked 134th).
Steinbrenner lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Justice Momrik, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Momrik hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Doug Jordan, who scored five points.
Steinbrenner has been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-21 record this season. As for Wharton, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
Steinbrenner will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Storm at 8:00 p.m. on January 30th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: DeVonte Spears and Momrik. As for Wharton, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Durant is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.3 points per game this season.
