Evan Snyder-Murphy tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Evergreen Park let Jack Rourke and Carlos Flores run wild. Rourke got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Flores went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Flores has posted since back in April. Cadyn Kummer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Evergreen Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Blue Island Eisenhower's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Evergreen Park, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-8 record.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Blue Island Eisenhower has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Evergreen Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Blue Island Eisenhower suffered a grim 16-9 defeat to Evergreen Park when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
