Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Blue Ridge's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Blue Ridge won the last time they faced Travelers Rest and things went their way on Monday too. The Fighting Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Devildogs. Considering the Fighting Tigers have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kilee Grant tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Blue Ridge let Grace Thompkins and Hannah Durham run wild. Thompkins got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Durham went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Durham has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynlee Bayne, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Blue Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are 12-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Blue Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Travelers Rest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
