Baseball Recap: Cherokee County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cherokee County waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Thorsby Rebels with a sharp 12-1 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Luke Young, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had over his last seven contests. Parker Wilson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Cherokee County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thorsby only posted an OBP of .250.

Cherokee County's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Thorsby, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7.

Coming up, Cherokee County will head out on the road to square off against Ashville at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Thorsby, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sumter Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
