3A Region IV District 31 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Raymondville moved up to 736 from 797 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region IV District 31. The Bearkats were able to make the jump by beating Grulla 34-22.
King led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Zapata.
Zapata's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Alonso Gutierrez has thrown for 76 yards this season, while Cesar Ramos has four catches for 64 yards. Mike Alvarez leads the league in rushing with 374 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region IV District 31 this week will be when Raymondville takes on the Hawks. At the moment, Joe Gonzales' team is in first, while Zapata is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lyford takes on the Gators. The Bulldogs have allowed 120 points this season, while Grulla has given up 167.
